Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Bryant Weaver Jr. drove off into the sunset on September 27, 2023. Born in Springfield to Charles Sr. and Dorothy "Gerry or Dean" on March 25, 1949. The youngest of three, his older siblings Frank and Norma did their very best to keep him in line. He was a 1967 graduate of Glendale High School and remained close friends with many of his classmates. He started working in HVAC with his dad in the 70's and continued to keep the surrounding area cool in the summers and warm in the winters. It was not unusual for him to let customers pay in installments, in trade and even once in tamales. He loved that he could help people and enjoyed teaching the younger generation of techs all he knew. He was a life-long resident of Springfield, but took many great adventures to faraway places, always making new friends wherever he went.

Charlie is survived by two amazing daughters that he loved very much, Stephanie (husband Chris) and Jennifer (husband Bryan). Both are just like him, but nothing alike. They grew up listening and loving the music he played. ZZ Top, John Fogerty, Tina Turner, TOTO and The Doors were often played just to name a few. 6 were lucky enough to call him Papa Charlie. Jasmine, Cullan, Bella, Vivian, Molly and Violet. He was a very proud Papa! One thing he didn't surprisingly leave behind was a bunch of unpaid speeding tickets. He either outran the police or talked his way out of them. The man was a stellar storyteller. He could keep your attention for hours and even if you had heard the story before the way he told them, it was like hearing it for the first time.

Charlie, being unlucky at picking wives, looked to his one true love, fast cars and the people who also loved them to fill his heart. Having owned every type of vehicle, he settled on learning everything he could about the rotary engine. You could easily hear his masterpiece, a 1993 Red RX7 cruising around town or catch a glimpse as he flew down the racetrack. He had made so many friends from all over the world who looked to him for guidance, not only with their cars but on life in general. Always one to offer help with either his tools or just an ear to listen and offer great advice. He helped so many locals go after their dreams of opening shops, building their dream cars, and helping make the 417 car-scene what it is.

He has been called a lot of things in his 74 years. Daddy, Friend, Good Time Charlie, The Old Man, a Guru and Father Figure, but the one that seems to fit best is Legend. The word Legend by definition, means someone who leaves behind an unforgettable impression and boy did he do that. When a Legend dies, they leave a legacy. All that have known and loved him are his legacy and we should continue to live like he did, to the absolute fullest with the windows down, music turned up and foot on the gas!

Charlie's "Final Ride and Celebration of Life" will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 1pm at the Ozark Raceway Park 8529 State Highway U, Rogersville Mo. We would love for you to wear lots of red or your favorite Rock or Car Tees.
