A much loved brother, Charles R. Helfrecht, 66 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on October 31st. He bravely confronted and fought diabetes for many years. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Charlie Helfrecht. Charles' love of the sport of football was the highlight of his high school years at Glendale High School and then led him to complete his education at Southwest Missouri State University. He was a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, the St. Louis Cardinals and he carried on the family tradition of enjoying watching the horses run at Oaklawn. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Bill and his "sister" Marti; nieces and nephews Melanie and Tony Fronce, Marc Helfrecht, David and Leslie Helfrecht and his dear friend and devoted encourager Joice Maples. James River Care Center is where Charles called "home." His many friends and staff were his second family. Charles' family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 5th at Twin Oaks Country Club from 5 to 7 p.m. In appreciation for Charles' most favorite meal of the year, your memorial contribution may be made to the James River Thanksgiving dinner fund at 3550 E. Battlefield, Springfield, MO 65809.
