Charles E. (Gene) Harris, 75, of Springfield, MO passed away on January 11, 2018 after a sudden illness.

He was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, a Deacon at South Street Christian Church, and had a 33 year career with the U.S. Postal Service followed by a 19 year career with OATS Transportation. He was also Chairman of the Board of Blu Current Credit Union, 2013 Red Cross Everyday Hero, an avid tool, toy truck, and gun collector, comedian, handyman, and friend to everyone.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Harris, and brother, Stephen Harris.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Redfearn Harris of Springfield, daughter Lisa (David) Belue of Fenton, MO, son Jeff Harris and girlfriend Melissa Jackson of Battlefield, MO, and grandson Alec Belue of Fenton, MO.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 3:00 PM at South Street Christian Church with the Reverend Janet Given officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
