Charles Denton
Corbett
Aug 18, 1949 — Jun 16, 2026
Charles Denton Corbett, 76, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Charles, or Denton, as he was known to most, was born on August 18, 1949 to Patsy Denton Corbett and Edward Lucian Corbett in Springfield, Missouri. Denton graduated from Greenwood Laboratory School in 1967. In 1977, Denton met his wife, Deborah (Deby) Corbett through Chi Alpha at Southwest Missouri State University. They were married on November 26, 1983.
Denton will be remembered as a vivid story-teller. He had a vast knowledge of historical events and could recount these in incredible detail as if he was there. He loved architecture and wood-working; one of his children’s favorite wood-working projects were two mahogany doll beds he crafted by hand. Denton’s projects extended far beyond a small doll bed and included building an entire addition onto his current house. He also enjoyed oil painting, as did his father and grandfather before him; his family remembers him setting up an easel in the backyard and painting the beautiful foliage. He was also a gifted pianist and played since he was four years old. His family recalls the notes of Schubert and Chopin drifting through the house.
Denton is survived by his wife, Deborah Corbett; children, Alexandra Ross (Adam), Rosanna Honeycutt, Andrew Corbett (Lara); one grandchild, Violet; and siblings James Corbett (Paula) and Catherine Long (Michael).
A celebration of Denton’s life will be held on July 8th from 4-6 PM at Before and After Brewing, located at 2940 E. Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65804.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Audubon Society, a personal favorite of Denton’s.
