Charlene S. Forrest, 78 of Springfield passed away June 9, 2012 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Charlene was an amazing, energetic, loving and compassionate person. She loved taking care of her family or friends who needed her. She loved caring for older people who needed extra love and attention. She would joke with them or give them a back rub, anything to make them feel better. She loved her family and Gregg and her grandkids and great-grandkids were the apple of her eye. She was a favorite with her nieces and nephews, they called her Neenie. This next part was written by Charlene sometime ago: When I am gone, it doesn't matter what I did or did not do in this materialistic world, I loved and was loved in return. I was loved by my God, my parents Mable and Arch Spurgeon (deceased), my best friend and husband, Tip (deceased), my son Gregg who has been my support for 6 years and helped me in so many ways. Gregg presented me with another world of love, my five beautiful grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan, Christy, Meagan and husband Daniel, and Kiley; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Hannah and Marin. I was also blessed with my sisters Wilma Duey and husband Jr, Jean Larmer and husband Bob, Wilda Todd and husband Tom and my brother Sonny Spurgeon. Also deceased include my brother Willard and wife Connie, sisters-in-law Jackie and Doris; and daughter-in-law Melissa, Kiley's mother. My sisters-in-law who survive me are Boots Gerhardt, June Bradshaw, Delta Forrest, Marion Marcy, Linda Forrest, 2 brothers-in-law, John Forrest and Stan Sieman; and Peg Forrest, mother of four of my grandchildren. All my nieces and nephews and good friends who were special to me: I could not ask for anything more. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
