Obituary
Catherine "Cathy" Lynn Schneider, 70, Springfield, MO peacefully passed Friday, March 11, 2022, at 7:00 pm in BirchPointe. She was born July 29, 1951, in Springfield, MO, to Stephen Francis & Mary Elizabeth (Welsh) Schneider.
When asked, "What is your favorite thing to do?" this would cause pause for most, Cathy easily replied, "I Like to smile." Something so simple, often overlooked, but at the same time, it explains the way she lived her life. Her love for smiling was contagious to all those around.
Cathy had a long career as a Dental Hygienist & Assistant from Missouri to Colorado for many Doctors. In Dentistry, she sought ways to become the "Patch" Adams for kids, meeting the real Hunter "Patch" Adams in 1999. Priding in sobriety for more than 26 years, she often found solace in nature. Before the onset of Alzheimer's, she achieved certification as a doula. She believed strongly in natural childbirth, having given birth to two children on her own at home during her life.
Cathy is survived by two sons, William Reed & Paxton Long; one daughter, Ashley Plank; two brothers, Steve Schneider & Greg Schneider; one sister, Mary Watkins; six grandchildren, Zeke, Zoey, Nya, Stella, Acey, & Elias; two nieces & nephews, Tuc Watkins & Courtney Watkins-Robinson, Stephen & Stacey Schneider; and great nieces & nephews, Tucker, Lexie, Mary Charles, Catchen & Curtis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Ann Schneider.
A Moon Rise Celebration of Cathy will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at The Clever Barn, 3647 Jasmine Road, Clever, MO 65631.
