Cathleen Ann Schlichting left this world to be an Angel in heaven on Saturday, April 15, 2017 after a year and a half battle with pancreatic cancer. Cathy was born on October 1, 1955 to Lucien (Sonny) Smith and Leiloni Smith (both deceased). She was also preceded in death by a beloved stepmother Elsie Marie Smith. Cathy graduated from Central High School in 1973 and from Draughon Business College. Cathy is survived by her husband and best friend Steve Schlichting, daughters Melissa (Dan) Hawkins and Brooke Simmons, grandchildren Haley, Isabelle, Theron, and Alora, mother-in-law Ramona Schlichting, stepbrother Michael Trantham, stepsister Karen Marie (Richard) Jones, sister-in-law Lora Deckard, and a host of other family and friends.

Cathy was the longtime owner of two Gold Exchange Pawn Shops (Glenstone and Battlefield), Gunsmoke Guns-Gold Exchange Pawn Shop and various rental properties. Cathy was always ready to help others in need and regularly contributed to various charities, but her big heart was always focused on her family, taking a special pride in her husband, children, and grandchildren. Cathy was truly a beautiful, vibrant presence and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm also at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2926 E Battlefield Rd, Springfield, MO 65804.

As an Angelic Person on earth, she is now walking with the Angels.
