Obituary

Catherine Isabel Lairmore passed away peacefully July 30, 2014 after a long illness at the age of 78. Isabel grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Tulsa University where she was a member of Chi-Omega sorority. It was at TU that she met her life long sweetheart, Mark Melton Lairmore. "Melton" was a baseball player and also a fraternity member. Isabel and Melton married on August 25, 1956, and moved to Joplin, Missouri where they expanded the family business of Lairmore Armored Cars. In 1959, Isabel and Melton moved to Springfield, Mo. and started Lairmore Armored Cars, the first service in Springfield. Isabel , "Izzy" was an active gardener and known for her beautiful yard with an abundance of flowers each summer. She was active in several bridge clubs, garden club, Springfield Opera Guild and a member of Southminister Presbyterian Church where she had many friends. Isabel was an accomplished seamstress, making beautiful homecoming dresses and Halloween costumes for her children. She was known for her dinner parties and her love of decorating at each and every holiday. Isabel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Mark Melton Lairmore; her parents, Dean and Margret Hetherington; and her brother, John Hetherington, all of Tulsa Oklahoma. Isabel is survived by her four children: Mark D. Lairmore, Lesa I. Lairmore Bullock and her husband Robin Bullock, Catherine A. Lairmore, and Heather D. Lairmore Edmonsond and her husband Mike Edmondson. She was also blessed with having five granddaughters: Channing, Chanel, Summer, Brooklyn and Nicolette. Isabel is also survived by her brother, Bill Hetherington, his wife Sonya from Arlington, Texas, and her dear childhood friend, Mrs. Patty Baker from Oklahoma City. We feel blessed to have had Izzie as our mother and feel comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Meltie. The family would like to thank the Elfindale Manor for the gracious care over the past four years. A special thanks to Dr. Julie Warren for her loving care and compassion towards the entire family. A visitation will be held in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Maplewood cemetery .
