Obituary

Carroll Duane McKinney, 81, loving son, extraordinary father, and caring grandfather passed away December 14, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 29, 1939 to Becky and Lige McKinney in a small community near Berryville, Arkansas.

Carroll was the youngest of six children and developed a strong work ethic during his time spent on the family farm. At the age of 13, he followed in his brothers' footsteps and became a student at School of the Ozarks.

Carroll thrived at the school where he learned a new trade and was known for his integrity, character, and self-discipline. He developed life-long friendships and met the most important person in his life, Elaine Griffith. The two were married on January 22, 1961 in the beautiful School of the Ozarks chapel.

Carroll and Elaine started a family and had two sons, Greg and Lance, only 18 months apart and moved to Springfield in 1967. In 1969, their daughter Melissa was born and they raised their children in a loving and happy home.

Carroll spent over 60 years in the lithography and printing industry. He learned every aspect of the business and served as a salesman, sales manager, and President of Lawrence Photo, at the time a $55 Million multi-state company. Although he traveled extensively for work, Carroll made sure to come home for every one of his children's games, matches, and performances. He was proud of his kids and loved to see them compete in many athletic events.

Carroll was outgoing and enjoyed golf, life at the lake, his farm in Highlandville, neighborhood parties, and especially family holiday dinners.

Carroll and Elaine cherished their grandchildren and often spoke of their accomplishments and future plans. Their home is filled with family photos and happy memories.

Carroll is survived by Elaine, his wife of nearly 60 years, his son Greg, wife Andrea and grandson Lachlan; son Lance, wife Kim and grandson Luke; daughter Melissa O'Leary, husband Chris O'Leary and grandchildren Chloe and Declan; and his sister Louise Williams as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
