Susie Wampler
Carolyn Sue Wampler, 73 of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Mercy Hospital.
Susie was born November 6, 1943 in Springfield, MO to L. J. and Juanita Hartley Hacker. She graduated from Fair Play High School in 1962 and attended Missouri State University and University of Missouri.
She was a clinical social worker, MSW, LCSW and established Family Therapy of the Ozarks and Adoption for Families and worked until her third and final retirement in May 2017.
She married Wayne L. Wampler on February 8, 1963. They celebrated 54 wonderful years together.
She was a member of South Street Christian Church, Eastern Star and NASW (National Association of Social Workers).
Susie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, nana, friend, therapist and social planner. She has touched the lives of thousands of children and families in this world. She will be missed on this Earth. There was definitely a celebration in Heaven upon her arrival.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Christopher (9/17/08); and son-in-law, Michael White (5/23/07).
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Crystal Wampler Yarnell and husband, Jerry; daughter, Julie Wampler Willoughby and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Alex and Courtney Wampler, Grace White Yarnell, and Dustin Nutter; great-granddaughter, Kyndell; siblings, Barry Jenkins and wife, Linda, Alden Jenkins and wife, Susan, Lindley Hacker and wife, Sharon, and Linda Pyle and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Lindley Prairie Cemetery in Bear Creek, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rare Breed, 301 N. Main, Springfield, MO 65806.
