Carolyn Snyder, 89, passed away on January 16, in Gardner, KS, where she lived for the last eight years. Carolyn was born in Tulsa, OK on December 24, 1929, the only child of Lyndall and Maree Conrad. They moved to Springfield when she was a child where she attended Roundtree Elementary, Jarrett Junior High and Springfield High School, graduating in 1947. During high school, she was a proud member of the Kiltie Drum and Bugle Corps. She attended Southwest Missouri State College after graduation.
Carolyn married Dan Snyder in 1953 and raised two daughters, Jane and Alice. They were longtime members of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. She was an active school volunteer and enjoyed supporting her daughters' activities. In her later years, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Dan, and parents Lyndall and Maree Conrad. She is survived by daughters Jane O'Neal (Danny) of Gardner, KS and Alice Collins (Tom) of Wichita, KS, grandchildren Abby Atkins, Blake O'Neal, Audrey O'Neal, Katie Collins and Ian Collins, as well as great-grandchildren Felicity and Calvin Atkins.
Services will be held at the Springfield National Cemetery chapel, 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18 with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Chaney officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be at the National Cemetery following the service. No visitation is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CHS Kilties through the Springfield Public Schools Foundation.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care she received from the staff at Vintage Park of Gardner and from Ascend Hospice.
