Carolyn Hickman (Piper), of Springfield, MO passed away on May 8, 2021 at the age of 87.    Carolyn was born in Ash Grove, MO and moved to Springfield in 1952 to attend Southwest Missouri State College to pursue a degree in Music.   While attending college Carolyn met Paul, her husband of 61 years.  They had three sons: Brad, David and Brian.

As a long-time piano teacher and member of the Springfield Piano Guild, Carolyn was beloved by her countless students over the years.  She enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers and garden and singing in her church choir, but her greatest joy was spending time with and loving on her family.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and son, Brad, as well as her sister Betty and brother-in-law Lester Wilkerson.  She is survived by her sister Beverly and Bob Kirby of Everton, MO; daughter-in-law Linda Hickman of San Antonio, TX; two of her sons, David and Mary Hickman of Fenton, MO, and Brian and Brandy Hickman of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren – Lauren, Amanda, David, Jr., Caleb, Katherine, Hannah, Abby and Piper; three great-grandchildren – Dylan, Penny and Hank; two nieces, Kathy and Mike Rankin of Springfield, MO and Julie and Jason King of Dadeville, MO; and two great-nephews, Jacob and Josh.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 21, 2021 at South Street Christian Church in Springfield, MO, with burial following at Maple Park Cemetery.
