Carol Hill Timson, 87, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2015 in Springfield, MO. She was born November 14, 1927 in St. Louis, MO to Glenn and Lexie (Craig) Hill. Carol attended Community School and John Burroughs High School. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Animal Husbandry in 1949. While at Mizzou she met George Farrand Timson whom she married on December 26, 1950 in her grandmother's house in St. Louis. Carol and George lived in New Jersey for the first few years of their marriage. They moved to Rosewood Heights, IL in 1955 where they lived and raised their six children before retiring and moving to Salem, MO in 1983 to be near the Current River and Red Blaze Farm, which she loved so dearly. Carol enjoyed floating the Current River, an activity which she began as a young child with her mother and father and continued throughout her life. She was an avid swimmer and taught swimming during her years in Rosewood Heights and Salem. She was also an accomplished quilter making quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others. Carol was happiest when with her family. Whether it was swimming, skiing, biking, canoeing, or hiking, she loved being active and surrounding herself with loved ones. Carol is survived by George, her loving husband of 64 years, her sister Lexie Schoen of Madison, WI, sister-in-law Janice Loe of La Canada, CA, six children and their spouses, Ben and Kathy Timson of Springfield, MO, Glenn and Jane Timson of Tulsa, OK, Lexie and George Long of Ladue, MO, George and Pamela Timson of Rolla, MO, Laura and Kirk Gimmy of Marion, IL, and Jon and Cindy Timson of Springfield, MO, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, and three cousins. Visitation will be at James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem on Thursday, January 29th from 5-9 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salem on Friday, January 30th at 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Timson Family Cemetery on Red Blaze Farm at Cedar Grove. The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Quail Creek in Springfield where Carol spent her last 18 months.
