Carol Lynn Hutcherson was born in Springfield, Missouri, on August 30, 1948, and completed her earthly life at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri on May 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olive R. Smith and Frank H. Smith. Carol is survived by her significant other, Paul Obermann of Springfield, MO; her son, Keith (Kara) Hutcherson of Tempe, AZ; her daughter, Gina Hutcherson of Springfield, MO; and her brother, Donald R. (Diane) Smith of College Station, TX. She also leaves behind one grandson, Gavin Hutcherson, three nieces and several grand-nieces and nephews.

Carol knew Jesus as her savior, talked with Him daily, and we praise God for her presence in our lives. The last 12 years of Carol's earthly life have been filled with many medical challenges, but Carol handled them gracefully and was an inspiration to others. Even though we now miss Carol in our lives, we rejoice in all the good times that we experienced because of her.

Carol was employed as a rural mail carrier for the US Post Office until her health forced retirement in 2010. She had a reputation for being an excellent bowler and in years past enjoyed competing in tournaments with her friends. In addition, she was just as competitive as a golfer and scored two holes in one.

Carol was a very generous person and was always willing to help other people that were in need. She also loved animals and leaves behind her three favorite companions, a cat named Ellie, Annie her loving dog, and Stan her grandpuppy.

Carol's family thanks all the doctors and nurses that have so specially cared for her over the last 12 years of her life.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO with services scheduled for 1:00 PM, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the funeral home.  A reception will follow from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm at the Walnut Street Inn, 900 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, Missouri 65806.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rescue One, 1927-B E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO 65804.
