Obituary

Carl Edward Young was born on October 27, 1968 in Springfield Missouri at the Burge Hospital. He was the second child born to parents Richard E Young and Karolyn K Young.

Carl was educated in the Springfield Public School System; he graduated from Kickapoo High in 1987.

Carl participated in all sports from an early age with basketball at the Boy’s Club, Mighty Mites football, summer baseball, basketball. Entering high school his focus was on track and football. It was said that Carl was a natural runner, he ran the 100-yard dash and a member of 440 relay team.

With football he played running back and defense. There was game rivalry between Glendale/Kickapoo, during the game Carl ran a 90+-yard touchdown that resulted in a win for Kickapoo.

Carl’s jersey #29 was retired at school. Carl was selected for the 1986 ALL OZARKS football team. After high school Carl went to Northeastern Oklahoma College to become a member of that team.

After high school some members of the team/friends took up flag football and played every Thanksgiving Day, it was called the Turkey Bowl, it went on for several years until the age and body crept in on them.

Carl was united in marriage to Sarah Monroe on August 14th, 2001. Two sons were born, Darian A. Young and Marcus A. Young.

Carl had the pleasure of many vocations, he worked for the Youngblood Car Dealership, Butternut Bread Co, and Northstar Battery.

Carl became a father again on November 11, 2013, born a daughter and named Gracyn Ruby Young with her mother Julie Kojdecki.

Carl was a great dad, he loved his children with all his heart, and he encouraged them to always do good and what was right. He was such a proud father.

Carl never met a stranger; he loved people and was very caring to all. He would do anything to help. Carl was loved by a lot of people. He collected pocket knives to add to his father’s collection, loved to eat and thought he could really barbecue.

Carl leaves those to cherish the memories: parents Richard & Karolyn Young, brother Richard Young wife (Joan), sisters Carolyn Young, Kellee Wilson husband Eric, uncles Roland and Stephen Young, Aunt Sue Wright, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death: grandparents Earl and Gertrude Young, Haddon and Eugene Snell, Aunts Diane Tucker Young and Ina (Sissy) Brown, Uncles Bobby, George and Kenneth Young, William Avery and Monte Ruby, Family: Carlotta Carlock, Constance Bostic, Philip McCall, Danny Adams, George Young, Jr, Paul Toliver and Everett Franklin, Jr.

Repast will be held in Sanctuary of Praise COGIC at 2245 S. Holland, Springfield, MO 65807.
