Carl Linden Wilcox passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, April 28 at the age of 86. Carl was born April 3, 1929 in Topeka, KS, the son of Winfield Warren Wilcox and Violet Marie Cozad. Carl graduated from Washburn University and served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict as a pilot. On April 8, 1961 he and Phyllis Elaine Pfeifer were united in marriage, living in Columbia, MO before settling in Springfield, MO. Carl was a real estate broker and avid golfer, serving many years on the Missouri Golf Association Board. After retiring from the real estate business, Carl traveled extensively throughout the US inspecting and rating golf courses. Carl was also active in the Catholic Church as a member of parish council and sponsored many candidates for those coming into the church. A voracious reader, Carl was sure to bring a book with him everywhere he went. Carl was proceeded in death by his daughter, Beth Adamson and is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two sons, David and William Wilcox; son in law, John Adamson; granddaughters, Emily and Elaine Adamson, Lauren and Mary Wilcox; grandsons, Billy and Liam and many special nieces and nephews. A special thanks goes to Drs. Robert Ellis, Robert Carrolla and the Oxford Hospice for the commitment to the care given Carl throughout a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be Friday, May 1 from 5-7pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with rosary immediately following at 7pm. Mass will be officiated by Father Fergus at 10am Saturday, May 2 at Holy Trinity Church. Graveside services will follow at Maple Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Isabel's House or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
