Carl Richard (Rodie) Roda, 80, of Springfield, MO, passed away at 5:25 am September 3rd, 2013 at Cox South Health Center. Richard was born November 1st, 1932 in Trenton, MO, to Carl Otto and Flora Louise Roda, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Trenton High School, Central Methodist University and Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Army and was a secondary educator, coach and administrator throughout his career. He was a lifelong Kansas State fan- "Every man a Wildcat!". In 1952, he married Peggy Lou Brummitt and in mid September they would have celebrated their 61st anniversary. He is survived by his wife, sister Patricia McWilliams of Trenton, daughter Cynthia Lynn Cole of Columbia, MO, son Douglas David Roda of Warsaw, MO, granddaughters Lesley Brooke Marshall (Chris) of Versailles, MO, and Katie Lynn Nichols (Brian) of Springfield. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Heath and Ryley Brooke Marshall of Versailles, and three nephews, Eric, Ethan and Adam Hauck and their families. Richard is to be cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date. Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, is handling the arrangements.
