Obituary

Carl D. Cannefax Jr. passed peacefully Friday July 19, 2013, surrounded by family and friends; the end of a happy and fulfilled life. A friend described him well. "Carl was the bands big brother, the older steadying influence. He was very patient with us. I never heard him raise his voice or say an unkind word. He was dignified, classy, a great guitarist, had a wicked sense of humor and was always the best dressed guy around." Carl was born June 25, 1952 in Springfield, MO and baptized at the East Avenue Baptist Church in 1962. In 1970, he graduated from Glendale High School and then attended SMSU for Business & Marketing. Carl was always a hard worker and entrepreneur, opening The Men's Room clothing store in his early twenties. For the last 30 years Carl Cannefax has been a respected name in the exotic car industry, mainly working with Motorcars International leading them to become the number one Lamborghini dealership in the country. Bob Caan, a long time friend and associate, described Carl as having the god- given talent to put people at ease and touch them authentically, which made him successful. In 2005 Carl opened Lamborghini Las Vegas followed by a second location in The Palazzo/Venetian in 2008. He was a man of many passions including blues guitar, fly fishing the big rivers and being with his extended family and friends. Carl was married almost 20 years to his devoted wife Donna. He was the love of her life. An amazing husband, a devoted son, a great friend to many, a mentor, loving brother-in-law, much loved uncle to a multitude of nieces and nephews, and godfather to Christina and Nick Killian. He is survived by his mother, Leima (Chastain) Cannefax, his siblings and their spouses, Karen and Larry Smith, Mark and Lisa Cannefax, Jane and Bradley Brown, John and Naheel Cannefax. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved father, Carl D. Sr. They both will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27 at 1:30-3:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with services at 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
