Calvin Baker, age 85 of Springfield peacefully passed away at 12:37 PM, Monday, February 21, 2022, in his home.

He was born April 5, 1936, in Pyatt, AR. On October 3, 1987, he married Barbara (DuBois). Together, they enjoyed Bluegrass music, square dancing, and traveling.

Calvin was an active member of Charity Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. He was also a member of the Public School Retirement System of Missouri.

Calvin completed his Doctor of Education from Mississippi State University. He was Superintendent of Crane Public Schools, until retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Hazel Baker. Calvin is survived by his wife, Barbara, Springfield; stepsons, Steve Norton (Jan) of Nixa, MO and Jim Norton, Springfield; brother, Joe Baker (Thresa), Pyatt, AR; granddaughters, Laney Podosek (Brian), Milford, MA; Stephanie Lester (Brendon), Springfield; Britni Lawrence, Manchester, NH; and two great-grandsons.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2022, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Gaines, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday in the funeral home.
