Obituary

Burton Lee Howard, age 88, of Nixa/Springfield area went to join the Lord on May 18, 2016 to see his beloved wife, Nora and parents Everett and Ethel Howard, as well as brother Dwayne. He was born April 6, 1928 in Wellington, KS.

He attended the one-room schoolhouse in Mulvane, KS and joined the Navy on April 6, 1946. After returning home from serving in WWII, he went to Pittsburg State University where he met the love of his life, Elnora May Coonrod. His career with the US Treasury Department as a Special Agent in the Intelligence Division of the IRS spanned years in Las Vegas, Honolulu and Reno. After retiring they traveled all over the US in their motorhome and eventually settled in Springfield. Burt worked after retirement as an investigator and tax consultant until he became the transportation coordinator for the Ozark Price Cutter Championship Golf Tournament. He loved this volunteer position that lasted 25 years.

He is survived by daughter, Karen Cavalli and her husband Robert and their children Amy Henrickson and Kelly Cavalli; daughter, Cynthia Ritchie and her husband Kelvin and their daughter, Samantha Ritchie; two brothers, Eugene Howard of Medford, Oregon and Michl Howard of Boulder, Colorado; and seven nieces and nephews. He was very proud of all his family.

Graveside service will full military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
