IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce
Mccurry
July 7, 1947 – August 19, 2024
Bruce McCurry was born on July 7, 1947, in Carthage, Missouri. He passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 77, in Springfield. He was the beloved son of Jim and Fern McCurry.
Bruce was a graduate of Carthage High School. He continued his education at the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he earned both a business degree and a law degree. It was during his time at Mizzou that Bruce met the love of his life, Vicki, who would be his devoted wife for 52 years.
Bruce served in the Army Reserves for several years. In 1973, Bruce and Vicki made their home in Springfield, Missouri, where Bruce began his long legal career with the law firm of White, Dickey & Allemann, LLP. For the majority of his legal career, he ran his own firm, Chaney & McCurry, LLP. He was a devoted advocate for his clients, who were more like adopted family than customers. He was a proud member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, where he served as a director for three terms and President in 1991.
The only thing that Bruce loved more than practicing law was his family. He supported Vicki and his sons, Kyle (Erin) and Jeff (Crissy), with unwavering devotion. Bruce received great joy from his five grandchildren—Evan (16), Ben (14), Will (11), Connor (11), and Claire (8). His favorite hobby was taking care of responsibilities that would otherwise burden a member of his family or could bring them joy. He was happiest when such tasks happened to be at Table Rock Lake.
Bruce's legacy is one of integrity, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 3:30 p.m. at Aldersgate Church (460 Aldersgate Drive, Nixa, MO 65714) – service at 3:30, reception to follow until 6:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bruce's memory to a charity of your choice.
