Bruce M. Dopp, 89, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

He was born in Albion, MI to Cleo M. and Fancheon (Shinn) Dopp. He graduated from Lanphier HS in Springfield, IL and later attended the University of Michigan where he played football. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Sociology, Psychology, History and Archaeology. He taught K-12 for several years and was later a Disability Claims Examiner. He served as a Paratrooper in the 82 ^nd Airborn. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, Elks Lodge #409, Moose Eagles, VFW, and DAV. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing, spending time with family, and cheering for the Michigan Wolverines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rodney Lee Dopp; sister, Kaye Jean Wiley; and son, Bruce Michael Dopp, II.

He is survived by his sons, Patrick Dopp (Zoe) of Springfield, Bryan Dopp of Seattle, WA, Rocky Dopp (Erin) of Gresham, OR, and Joseph Dopp of Springfield; daughters, Deborrah Shirley (John) of Cleveland, OH and Dawn Conrad (Wesley) of Cleveland, OH; 6 grandchildren, and a brother, Barry Dopp (Pat) of Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School or the Shriners Hospital.
