Brandon Michael Young, 29, of Springfield, Missouri, died on Friday, February 10. He was a graduate of Nixa High School. He enjoyed taking care of and spending time with his family and friends, especially during summers at Table Rock Lake and the James River. He had a remarkably soft spot in his heart for his beloved niece, Béla Millsap. He made friends easily, and was quickly loved by many, wherever he went. He struggled, as many do, with the everyday stresses we all encounter, but he enjoyed the sweetness of life, and everyone who knew him felt this. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myrtle and Lewis Copeland. Brandon is survived by his father, Mike Young; his mother, Sandy Copeland-Farley; brother Jeff Young and wife Kim; sister Melissa Young-Millsap and husband Adam; grandparents Herbert (H.C) and Jean Young; aunts and uncles Kathy and Don Hutson , Steven Young, and Gary and Patty Copeland. He is also survived by two nieces and a nephew: Béla Millsap, Kaylin Young, and Owen Millsap. Services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with burial to follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Brandon's life may be made to Springfield Urban Agriculture Coalition (springfielduac.org), an organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and environments through hands-on education about the production and consumption of locally-produced, natural, healthy foods. An orchard will be dedicated in Brandon's name.
