Boyd Douglas Umlauf
Boyd was born December 1st, 1936, to Lige and Cleo (Beckerdite) Umlauf in Springfield, MO and departed to his heavenly home on January 13th, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin Umlauf and his brother Larry Umlauf. He is survived by Donna, his wife and best friend for 40 years, his sons Kenton Umlauf (LuAnn) of Springfield, MO, Kory Umlauf of Dallas, TX, Grandchildren Jenna Fairfax (Colby), Jerra Ferrara (Anthony), Blake Umlauf, Grant Umlauf, Logan Umlauf (Alisha), Ariel Gehris (Ian), Tanner Revie (ShyAnn) and three great grandchildren Chloe Fairfax, Jaxson Fairfax and Taysom Ferrara.
Boyd retired from Colonial Baking Company after 33 years of service. After retirement he pursued many activities. He enjoyed delivering limousines to the east coast and then going to work for the Red Cross. He helped start the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. He especially enjoyed working with the employees and helping with the blood donors.
Boyd belonged to the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine for forty years and was a 33rd degree Mason. His memories of the Shrine include being Captain of the Tin Lizzie Motor Unit, member of the Directors Staff, and the Corvette Unit. He especially enjoyed parading and seeing all the children's smiles. One of the best memories of the Shrine was meeting Donna at a Shrine parade in Lamar, MO. Boyd and Donna spent many happy years traveling in their motorhome and enjoying each other's company.
Boyd has requested that he wants a private family celebration of his life. He has also requested that he be cremated with a private family internment of the ashes.
In lieu of flowers, it was Boyd's wishes that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Contributions should be mailed to Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, 601 E St. Louis St., Springfield, MO 65806.
