Obituary

Bonnie Mae Sayler, 78, went on to be with the Lord at 5 p.m. Tuesday April 16, 2013 after a battle with stroke related complications. Bonnie was born August 22, 1934 in Walnut Grove, MO. Daughter of Wayne and Hazel Roberts. Bonnie was a retired schoolteacher who highly valued education and had a great love for children. After graduating from Ash Grove High School she attended Southwest Baptist University for two years and finished her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Drury University. Her teaching career started in Montana teaching Kindergarten for one year, she then taught for a year in Alaska. Bonnie often spoke of her adventure to Alaska and the beautiful country God had created there. After Alaska she came back to her home in Missouri and began teaching kindergarten at Ash Grove Elementary. This was a start of a legacy, as she continued teaching in the district for 25 years. Bonnie was a great educator and cared for her students deeply. Bonnie was a beloved member of her family and is survived by her three children; Jheff Sayler, Scott Sayler and wife Hope Sayler, Kathy McBee and husband Jay McBee; her brother, Charlie Roberts; 7 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She will be deeply missed. Services will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home Friday April 19th with a visitation at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Bonnie was a long time member of South Haven Baptist Church and the church played a very big role in her life. Contributions may be given in her memory to South Haven.
