Obituary

Bonnie Lee Davis Noland was born in Crocker, MO, August 30, 1926, the only child of Virgie and Coy Davis. She departed this life on April 27, 2018.

Her family moved to Springfield, where she attended Doling Elementary, Jarret Jr. High, and graduated from Senior High School (now Central) in 1944. She attended Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University) in 1944 and 1945.

During the summer of 1945, she worked in the code section of the State Department in Washington, D.C., where she was privileged to see the World War Two surrender telegram from the Japanese.

She was united in marriage to Leo D. Noland on October 13, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1978. Bonnie worked at Union National Band on the square for 8 years and, following a short move to Kansas City, returned to Springfield and worked for GMAC. After the birth of their only child Timothy in 1960, she returned to college and received a B.S. in Education so that her schedule and Tim's would be the same. She was one of the original teachers at Kickapoo High School, where she taught Art until she retired in 1987.

Bonnie spent her retirement years touring the world and the U.S., painting growing flowers, playing bridge with her bridge group, and lunching with her lunch bunch.

Bonnie became a Christian at an early age and was very active at Grace United Methodist and Wesley United Methodist Church during her younger years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her beloved son, Rev. Dr. Timothy Noland.
