Bonnie Jean Brown, 87, of Springfield, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lost her years long battle to Alzheimer's Tuesday, January 16, 2018, when she went to be with our Heavenly Father.
She was born October 12, 1930 in Overland Park, Kansas, the daughter of Rudolph and Bessie Glauser, both whom were born and raised in southern Christian county. Bonnie lived for many years in Overland Park, Kansas, Indianola, IA, Darion, IL and for the last 38 years as a resident of Springfield, MO. She was a longtime member of the Schweitzer United Methodist Church. She loved to cook for her family, especially Sunday dinners where they would all gather and enjoy her great cooking, each other's company, and the special treats she always made for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and tending her flower garden. Bonnie was a secretary, administrative assistant, program manager and legal secretary.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years Robert Brown of Springfield, MO, two sons and one daughter: Gary Brown and wife Vickie of Lampe, MO, Steve Brown and wife Cindy of Evergreen, CO, and Jeanne Kanoy and husband Randy of Overland Park, KS, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; four brothers, and a sister: Glenn Glauser, Harold Glauser, John Glauser, Helen Foster, and Jim Glauser.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Schweitzer United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to: The Pantry at the Schweitzer United Methodist Church.
The family expresses their great appreciation to the staff at The Manor at Elfindale for their five year and eight month loving care of Bonnie.
