Bobbye
Weaver
July 7, 1944 – April 21, 2026
Roberta Lee (Nutting) Weaver, 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on April 21, 2026, at Mercy Hospital.
Bobbye, as she was affectionately known, was born to Robert Lee Nutting and Alberta (Green) Nutting. She was reared in Pryor, Oklahoma, before moving to Springfield with her parents, where she graduated from Parkview High School in 1962.
Following high school, Bobbye attended Southwest Missouri State College, where she was actively involved in numerous organizations and was a proud member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. She graduated in the spring of 1966 and went on to earn a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Missouri–Columbia. Whether traveling to St. Louis or Columbia for work in her Corvair or her white 1968 Camaro with black-and-white houndstooth interior, Bobbye made a lasting impact as a social worker, helping place children in adoptive families across southwest Missouri.
After many successful years in this role, she transitioned into workforce counseling. It was in this position, in 1970, that she met Bill Weaver, who had recently completed his service in the United States Air Force. While Bill was seeking employment, he instead found Bobbye—and the two shared a loving marriage for 55 years.
In 1976, Bobbye and Bill welcomed their son, Gregory William Robert Weaver, into their lives.
Bobbye later became a Home School Counselor for the Springfield R-12 School District, where she served faithfully for 32 years until her retirement. In this role, she touched countless lives, guiding families through challenges with compassion and wisdom.
A devoted wife, mother, and family matriarch, Bobbye was a constant source of support. Whether encouraging Bill during his hot air ballooning adventures or helping Greg with his math homework, she was always present and engaged. She participated actively in her son’s scouting activities and attended PTA meetings and school functions with unwavering dedication.
Bobbye’s faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. She took immense pride in those she loved and dedicated herself to helping each person live their best life. Known for her kindness, integrity, and steady moral compass, she was someone others naturally turned to for advice and comfort. She gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She cherished her niece and nephew as her own and will be remembered as a guiding presence, a compassionate listener, and a steadfast example of doing what is right.
Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Alberta Nutting, and her beloved sister, Pamela Gayle (Nutting) Miranti.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her son, Greg; her niece, Pamela (Miranti) Spain and her husband, Jake; her nephew, Peter Miranti; her great-niece, Kate Spain; her brother-in-law, Joseph Miranti; her cousins Jean McDougald, Sydney Reid Hedge, and her husband, Joel Hedge; and her dear friend, Sue White.
Bobbye’s life was a testament to love, service, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
