"Bob" Robert
J. Lohmeyer
September 19, 1930 – February 21, 2021
Robert J. "Bob" Lohmeyer, 90 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 in Cox South Hospital.
He was born in Springfield on September 19, 1930 to Herman H., Sr. and Mabel Ketchum Lohmeyer. Bob attended St. Agnes Catholic Elementary and High School with wonderful teachers, the sisters of Loutta and sisters of Mercy and graduated in 1948. He then attended Drury College, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Economics. He married Carol Boehmer on June 13, 1953 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in St. Louis with Msgr. Bierman officiating.
While at Drury, Bob was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and a 15 year member of USN & MCRTC Training Center Division 9142 on the Drury College Campus. He was also a past member of Springfield Downtown Rotary Club and Springfield Jaycees. Bob was a charter member of the second Immaculate Conception Church on south Fremont and a longtime member of St. Agnes Cathedral and a current member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a life member of the third and fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
Bob spent his life serving the community as a Funeral Director receiving his license in 1965. He joined the family business at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home then moved with his son, Don to Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in 1988.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Boehmer Lohmeyer of 63 years January 20, 2017; his in-laws, Julius and Virginia Boehmer of St. Louis; three brothers, Gene, Louis and Herman, Jr.; his twin sister, Roberta Lohmeyer and sister, Mary Ann "Mitzi" Johnson.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Don and wife, Julie Lohmeyer, and Jim and wife, Jill Lohmeyer; a daughter, Cathy and husband, Harold Zinter all of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Joel, Jared, Matthew and Ryan, Jennifer Craigie and husband, Ian, Josie Morris, Katy Kidwell and husband, Geoff, Whitney Bryant and husband, Blake, and Bethany McDonald and husband, Ben; 12 great-grandchildren including Maddy and Austin Morris, Gus and Louis Bryant, and Dotty and Hazel McDonald; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 26, 2021 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Due to Covid, there will be no formal visitation, but friends may call after 1pm Thursday in the funeral home.
