Obituary

Billy Derrell Crane, 85, of Springfield, MO, passed away at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. John's Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 20, 1926, in Morrisville, MO., to Kirk Patrick and Stella Hicks Crane. Billy and the late Ella Louise McClure were married on February 26, 1949 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage together. He was retired from Kraft Foods after working there for 43 years and served in the Navy's Pacific Fleet during World War II. He was a Deacon of First Baptist Church and a founding member of River Bluff Fellowship Church. Billy served his Lord through at least 17 mission trips to places such as Argentina, The Dominican Republic, Brazil and many in the states. Bill is survived by three children and their spouses, Shirley Ryan and husband Robert of Ozark: David and wife Lisa of Springfield: Barry and wife Melody of Russellville, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Springfield, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honor guard. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, January 8, from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Gideons International, PO Box 4221, Springfield, MO 65808, or Christian Missions Unlimited, PO Box 58, Hope Hull, AL 36043.
