Billie Joe Hamilton, 89, passed away on April 29, 2023. He was born June 7, 1933 in Joplin, MO to Henry and Imogene (Moyer) Hamilton.

Billie married Helen (Shryock) Hamilton on October 19, 1956. He loved sports of all kinds. He began caddying for the local golf course at the age of 8 and had a passion for golf his whole life. At age 85 he was still playing golf 3 times a week. He was the biggest fan of his children, either coaching or attending all of their ballgames and events. In his later years, he enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs on television. Throughout his life, he enjoyed water skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. Many family vacations were spent along a riverbank.

He was a do-it-yourself guy. He built and remodeled several houses and repaired whatever needed repairing. He enjoyed gardening and raising farm animals (except chickens!)

He always loved when the grandkids and great grandkids would come for a visit.

In the business world, he retired as Manager of Manufacturing Systems at Dayco in Springfield, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife; children Alex Hamilton and wife Tami, Brenda (Hamilton) Caldwell and husband Daniel and Aaron Hamilton and wife Sandi; sister, Joyce Shields and husband Bobby of Cushing, OK; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 5 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
