William A. "Bill" Turpin, 90, of Springfield passed away on February 5, 2024. He was born August 3, 1933 to Carl and Ethel Turpin in Skidmore, MO.
He was a Navy Veteran and was in the reserves. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Abou Ben Adhem Shriners, South Side Senior Center and Asbury UMC.
He owned Bill's Blacksmith and Welding Shop for many years and drove a bus for Head Start. Bill was a part of the Abou Ben Adhem Hospital Dads, a group of Shriners that volunteer their time to transport patients to the hospital. He also participated in numerous pool tournaments, winning many trophies, and enjoyed trips to the casino and playing cards.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Chrisella R. Turpin.
He is survived by his sons Stephen (Kathy) Turpin of Pickerington, OH and Stanley (Karen) Turpin of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Kelly (Jay), Scott, Ryan and Stephanie; great grandchild, Carlee Turpin and a sister, Mary Sharp of Skidmore, MO.
Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Donations can be mailed to
