Bill George Revis, insurance broker, was born on November 4, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri. He passed away after a brief illness on August 25, 2015. Bill was the son of James and May (Prater) Revis. Bill graduated from Fair Grove High School at the age of sixteen in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years after completing high school. Bill graduated from SMS in 1950. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and served as president. Bill married Betty Jo "Jodie" Arterberry on July 25, 1950. They had one daughter, Nancy Jo. Bill was a Chartered Life Underwriter and owned Associated Insurance with his twin brother, Joe E. Revis. He was a proud supporter of SMS Bears football and basketball. Bill was an ardent fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also an Abou Ben Adhem Shriner. Bill enjoyed playing golf and being a charter member of Twin Oaks Country Club. He was a 50-year member of King's Way United Methodist Church and served as an usher for several years. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, his parents, twin brother, and sister, Jimmie Jean Revis. Bill is survived by his daughter, Nancy, and son-in-law Thomas Reynolds; granddaughters Kimberly Jo and Carrie Elizabeth Reynolds. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Martha Nichols, niece Sue Ann Revis, and several other nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 2, at King's Way United Methodist Church, 2401 S Lone Pine Ave, Springfield, Missouri, with Pastor Jon Spalding officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to King's Way United Methodist Church or the Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, Missouri, 63131. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at ManorCare Health Services for their compassionate care over the past fifteen months. Each employee was a blessing to Bill and his family.
