Bill G. Phillips, 86, of Springfield, Mo., passed away October 23, 2017 at James River Care and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield. Bill was born in 1931 and raised on a dairy farm near Nixa, Mo., the son of Hershel Owen and Mildred (Gonce) Phillips.

He was preceded in death by two older brothers, Richard Phillips and Howard Phillips.

Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy , serving in the South Pacific during the Korean War .

He is survived by his wife; two children, Teresa Stratton and Patrick Phillips; a granddaughter, Whitney Reuschling; a grandson-in-law, Rick Reuschling; and a great-granddaughter, Hayley; in addition to many nephews, nieces and cousins. At the time of his death, Bill was a resident of James River Care.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Seminole Street. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf. Burial will follow the services at Wise Hill Cemetery in Clever, Mo.
