Obituary

Bill J. Miller passed away October 16, 2014 in Cox South. Bill was born April 9, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Ted and Billie Miller. He was a graduate of Lamont High School, Lamont, OK. Following high school, Bill joined the Army and served his country during the Korean War. In 1967 he moved to Springfield and worked for Montgomery GMC for 20 years as service manager. In 1987 he went to work for Brad Sturges at Springfield Freightliner and was employed there for 22 years as service manager. Bill served as a service advisor at Graff Vo-Tech from 1972-1975 and was on the OTC Service Advisor Board in 2008. Bill had made his profession in Christ and was a member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church. He loved traveling, woodworking and spending time at the lake. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Newton and his mother-in-law, Margaret Newton. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sue Newton Miller; son, Keith and his wife, Karen, Galena, MO; sister, Patsy Smith, Ponca City, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Mary Newton, Plant City, FL; Ann and Gary Rozell, Sparta, MO; and Mike and Gail Newton, Mansfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services with full military honors will be Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at 1:00p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Monday. Private burial will be in Steele Cemetery, Hartville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Convoy of Hope, 330 S.
