Bill Ray Dixon died Saturday, November 1, at age 68 in his home in Springfield, Mo. He was born January 15, 1946, in Yukon, Mo. and lived in Summersville, Mo. before settling in Springfield. Bill worked as a truck driver for various firms before his retirement in 2008. Bill was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed sports, fishing and politics. He was most in his element on the water at the lake with his family and friends, where he demonstrated his remarkable ability as an angler. Bill brought joy and laughter to all those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olive and Raymond and his sister, Laura Lea. Survivors include his wife, Katherine; brother, Jim; children, Lori and Ryan; stepdaughters, Teresa and Tonya; grandson, August; step-granddaughters, Kelsey and Sabrina; and nephew, Jimmy. Bill is also survived by his pet and constant companion, Bubba, who taught lessons of loyalty and unconditional love, and who will miss his master very much. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, Mo. No services are planned.
