BEVERLY BRIGGS WALL

Beverly Lee Briggs was born on January 6, 1936, in Marshall, MO, to William D. and Edna Wheeland Briggs. She was welcomed into a family of four sisters, Ferree, Jane, Jean, and Joyce.  She resided in Sweet Springs, Mo and attended Sweet Springs Public Schools for her first two years of public education and for her third through sixth grade years, she attended South Grove and Mt. Zion, one-room rural schools, taught by her mother. For the seventh and eighth grades, she returned to Sweet Springs Public Schools graduating from the eighth grade in 1949.

In 1949-1953, Beverly attended Sweet Springs High School where she graduated in May of 1953 as salutatorian of her class.

Beverly entered Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, Mo in the fall of 1953 and graduated from this college in May of 1955 with an  Associate Degree in Elementary Education.

In the fall of 1955, Beverly entered the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1957.

Beverly met Norman Wall at the Baptist Student Union on the University of Missouri campus and they were married on August 11, 1957, in Sweet Springs, Missouri.

To this marriage three children were born: Deborah Ann, John Kevin, and Judith Kay.

While Norman was attending Medical School at the University of Mo., Beverly taught the sixth grade at West Boulevard Elementary School in Columbia, Mo.

Upon graduating from the University of Missouri Medical School in 1960, Norman joined the U.S. Navy. Beverly served her country as a proud Navy Officer's wife for 20 years prior to moving to Springfield, Mo. where her husband, Dr. Norman Wall, began a private practice in Plastic Surgery in 1979.

During the following years in Springfield, Mo., Norm and Beverly joyfully saw their children earn degrees and begin their life's journeys in their chosen professions. John married Carolyn Gafford in Springfield, Mo., on July 19, 1984. Judith married John Baker at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, on December 15, 1984. Deborah began a computer career at the University of Missouri- Kansas City.

Five grandchildren were added to the family. Sarah Elizabeth, Lauren Grace, and John David were born to John and Judith Baker. Kathryn Noel and Rebekkah Ann were born to John and Carolyn Wall.  Beverly also, is the proud great-grandmother to Theodore and Franklin Schondelmeyer.

The Springfield years brought Beverly into the world of Church Library ministry.  She was Director of the Church Library at First Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., Director of the Greene County Baptist Associational Church Library Organization, and Director of the State Baptist Church Library Organization.

Beverly would like to be remembered for her love of family and her intense love of books.  Reading was paramount in her life.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM in Fairview Cemetery, Sweet Springs, Missouri under the care of Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home.
