IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beverly Jean
Estes
October 15, 2021
Beverly Jean Estes
BJE went to join both her Lord and David, her loving husband on October 15, 2021. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Beverly was the only child of Leroy and Flora Votaw. From the ages of 11-20 she spent most of her time at Doling Roller Rink where she won a multitude of medals in local, regional, and national competitions, followed by three years as a judge at Nationals. In 1955 Beverly graduated from Senior High and received offers as both a skating pro in Florida and as a cast member of a skating troupe called the "Vanities" which toured internationally. She declined both jobs, however, to marry David Estes, the man she would spend the next 50 years with.
Beverly was a hard worker and spent five years at Heer's and seven years at Kraft Foods in the office before raising two adopted children, Julie and Todd. After they were grown, she relished her time as a buyer for Wickman's Boutique for 21 years. At the age of 35, Beverly took up tennis where she made lifelong friends while being fiercely competitive until her knees forced her to trade in her tennis shoes for dancing shoes at age 72.
Ballroom dance became her new passion where she practiced intensely and traveled to National and International competitions where she consistently scored high marks from the judges. Her two dance pros, Alex Patsioukov and Kevin Lee, also became her dear friends.
David and Beverly belonged to High Street Baptist and then Second Baptist Church for years until his passing in 2006. She continued to enjoy the fellowship and Bible teaching at Second Baptist until 2020 when she began treatment for lung cancer.
Beverly is survived by David and Julie (Estes) Burch, Todd and Regenia Estes and both their families.
The family would like to thank nurse Susan from Integrity Hospice, caregiver Darlene, and her many friends for their encouragement and help in making Beverly's last six months more comfortable.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Beverly's love of pets to: CPO, Attn: "Baxters Landing", Pets of the Homeless, 1518 E. Dale, Springfield, MO 65803.
