Mrs. Bettye Sue Boyd was born April 28, 1939, the eleventh of twelve children to Oscar and Ethel Price. She departed this life January 25, 2018. She was preceded in death by parents Oscar and Ethel Price, husband Homer Boyd, sisters: Ola, Katherine, and Shirley, brothers: Archie, Joe, Leon, William, Lawrence and Jimmy. Bettye is survived by two wonderful sisters, Mary Price Walls of St Louis, Missouri and Erma Wilburn of Minneapolis, Minnesota and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bettye attended Springfield Public Schools. She was a graduate of Central High School. Bettye found the love of her life Homer Lee Boyd and they married June 27, 1959.

Bettye and Homer moved to Minnesota in the early 1960's. Bettye worked at Honeywell International as a technician. She worked in the skill development center where she received many awards for her cost effectiveness on the job. In 1995 Bettye retired; she and Homer returned to Springfield. Bettye was an active member of Gibson Chapel and loved to work in the community. She also loved to cook and enjoyed preparing dishes for all outings.

Bettye was a very devoted and loving wife. She touched many lives until she developed her illness. She was a wonderful and compassionate person who endlessly and routinely gave of herself without complaints.

Home going services will be held Thursday February 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
