Betty Alene Woods, age 86, of Ozark Mo left this earth to be with her heavenly father on March 20, 2015. Betty was born in Ash Grove Mo on September 10, 1928 to Harold and Oma Heiskell. She grew up on their farm in Lockwood Mo along with her seven siblings. Her father became know as "the watermelon man" due to his skill at growing award-winning watermelons. Betty inherited his gardening ability and looked forward to her garden every year and teaching those around her the secrets to growing healthy plants. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her redeemer and savior as a teenager. She was a dedicated Christian and served as a children's Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a blessing to all who knew her. On July 31, 1945 she married the love of her life, Herschel Woods and became a devoted wife and mother. Her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was most precious to her. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and caretaker of those who needed her. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Woods; her parents, Harold and Oma Heiskell; her sisters, Doris Daniel and Mary Orrell; her brothers Vernon Heiskell and Eldon Heiskell. She is survived by a son and his wife, Randy and Terry Woods Ozark Mo; a daughter and her husband, Anita and David Jackson Springfield Mo; grandchildren, Kyle and Misti Woods Branson Mo; Amy and Curt Garner Republic Mo; Nick and Amanda Jackson Springfield Mo; great-grandchildren London Woods, Caleb Garner, Linley Garner and Riley Myers;her brothers Frank Heiskell, Norman Heiskell, and Paul Heiskell. Visitation will be held at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home from 2pm-4pm Sunday March 29, 2015 A graveside burial service will be held at the Springfield National Cemetery at 2pm Monday March 30, 2015.
