IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Pearcy
November 12, 1944 – August 9, 2021
Betty Pearcy
1944 - 2021
Betty fought a courageous battle with cancer, and passed away at home on August 9, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Betty was born to Horace and Helen (Pearcy) Lorance on November 12, 1944, in Marshall, MO. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Mt. Pleasant church. In 1962, Betty graduated from Lebanon High school and 2 weeks later, married her high school sweetheart, J.L. Pearcy of Stoutland, MO. They moved to Springfield, MO and began a wonderful life together. Betty and J.L. have two children, Jay and Jill, and 5 grandchildren.
Betty set the bar for a perfect wife, perfect mother, perfect grandmother, and perfect friend. Nothing made her more proud or gave her more joy than her family. While raising her children, she volunteered for PTA, school lunchroom duty, scout leader, carpool driver, homeroom mom, and anything else she could help out with. Betty was always known as the "fun mom". Betty never missed a ballgame, assembly, performance, or award presentation of her children or her grandkids. Affectionately known as "B" to her grandkids, as well as to many of her friends, Betty was as selfless and thoughtful as they come, and was always willing to help out others in need. Betty would walk in a room and light it up with her gorgeous blue eyes, beautiful smile, and outgoing personality. She never met a stranger and would make new friends everywhere she went.
Betty loved flowers, was a master at gardening, and knew the names of pretty much any plant she came across. She loved rocks, critters, and nature, and passed this love on to her children. Betty loved to laugh, loved to dance, and loved to embrace life.
Betty is survived by J.L. Pearcy (husband) of Springfield, MO, Jill Pearcy (daughter) of Nixa, MO, Jay and Janet Pearcy (son and daughter-in-law) of Nixa, MO, Bryce Reeves (grandson), Callie Reeves (granddaughter), Peyton Pearcy (granddaughter), Paige Pearcy (granddaughter), Allie Pearcy (granddaughter), Clyde and Carol Lorance (brother and sister-in-law), Judy and Bill French (sister and brother-in-law), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In Heaven, Betty is reuniting with her family who preceded her in death. AC and Lura Pearcy (grandparents), Maurice and Dorothy Stoughton (grandparents), Helen Lorance (mother), Horace Lorance (father), Evelyn Lorance (sister), Martha Lorance Tindle (sister), and Merry Lorance (sister).
Betty will be missed by her family and friends more than imaginable. Earth lost the best of the best with Betty, but Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 13, 2021, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled; however, friends may call after 1:00 PM on Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
