Betty Lou Brown (McCoy) 90, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Mercy Hospital after a battle with Covid.
Betty was born in Ozark, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd "Scoot" and Arlene McCoy, and sister to Joe E. McCoy. She grew up in Ozark and from there lived in Springfield and then many other cities around the country especially Dallas, Texas, where she was an executive secretary to Trammell Crow, a large real estate developer at the time. Ultimately Betty retired back in Springfield to be with family and longtime friends in the early 90's.
She was a member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church for many years and enjoyed many church activities.
Betty was very involved in many social activities and organizations throughout her life. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for many years. She was also a member of Elks 409 since 1995 in Springfield where she enjoyed many, many gatherings of friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge with the"girls". Betty was a world traveler with her good friends visiting almost all of Europe, Israel, and even China.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Joe. She is survived by her son, Bruce Monroe and wife, Tonya of Springfield; granddaughter, Lisa Shofner of Hollister; step-grandchildren, Ryan Herzig of Springfield, Amanda Mehrens and husband, Brian of Joplin; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Shofner, Kaenen Shofner, Alexander Shofner and Linus Mehrens.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Monday, January 25, 2021 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Private interment at Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, 820 E. Cherry Street, Springfield, Missouri 65806.
