Betty Jo (Buckner) Kennemer, 88, Springfield, MO passed away at 1:20 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at Cox South Hospital. She was born on April 19, 1935, in Willard, MO to parents Benjamin and Velta Buckner. She got married to her high school sweetheart Lowell Kennemer on November 15, 1952. After High School, she started out working at A&W, then ended up working at Taylors Drive In. In the early 1960s, Betty and Lowell started a cabinet shop (Custom Woodworks) which led to another business making cabinet doors (KD Products). After retirement, Betty loved spending time at the at the lake with Lowell and her best friend Nellie. At the lake, they would hunt, fish and watch the wildlife around them. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She would take them to the zoo, Chuck E. Cheese, Discovery Center, the park, and many more places. Betty had just moved into Springhouse Village where she made many friends and spent lots of time cuddling with her cat Diamond.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Lowell Kennemer, her parents Benjamin and Velta Buckner, her brother Charles Buckner, her sister Carolyn Johnson, her son Jack Kennemer, and her best friend Nellie Watson.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son in law Cheryl and Wayne Thompson and her three grandkids Kylie, Nathan (Grace), and Natalie Thompson. She also had her first great-grandchild on the way.
