Betty Jo Gillespie passed away on February 23, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. She was born May 12, 1949, in Davenport, IA.

Betty Jo liked to play the guitar and had a passion for art. She gave away many paintings to friends and relatives. She lived a life without a lot of expensive things and had a free spirit living life on her own terms. She often found enjoyment in painting, listening to music and watching old TV shows. In the end her physical and mental health deteriorated.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Williams Nelson, birth father, Albert S. Lindquist, adoptee father, Gordon Usticke, grandmother, Sylvia Mae Brown Cavanaugh; aunt, Betty Downs, and cousin, Sheri Scott.

Betty Jo is survived by her daughter -Jamie Dent and adoptee Mom (Ronnie); son - unknown name or location; sister - Michelle Micki Gaertner and spouse Jim; sister - Linda Walton and spouse Ellis; second cousin - Dana Osborn; second cousin - Greta Wren; along with many nieces, a nephew, and numerous third cousins.

She was so loved by her family.  It is hard to say goodbye. The only comfort is knowing she is at peace and God has her in His hands.
