Betty Jean Copeland went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 18, 2025. She was born on the family farm near Fair Play, Missouri, on December 22, 1930, to Paul and Neva (Hammons) Hopkins. Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth "Darrell" Copeland on November 12, 1950, in Fair Play, Missouri. She graduated from Fair Play High School and later resided in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company, and Springfield, Missouri, where she sold Avon products from her home for many years.

Betty trusted Christ as her Savior as a young adult and was a member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church for many years and later was a member of Southgate Baptist Church. She served in many capacities at both churches. Betty loved to prepare meals for friends and family, and especially enjoyed baking cookies for her grandsons when they would come to her house. Betty also enjoyed playing card games and dominoes with family and friends, and was a devoted fan of Missouri State men's basketball for many years.

Betty is survived by her son Rex and his wife Jan Copeland, grandsons Sean, Seth and Luke Copeland, sister-in-law Barbara Copeland and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, her parents, her brother and her sister-in-law Bill and Twila Hopkins, her brother-in-law Max Copeland, and her nieces Terry Cramer and Lois Sancho.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Betty will be interned at the Veteran's Cemetery of Missouri in a private burial.
