Betty Lou Doggett Baker, age 90, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away December 10, 2015. Betty was born August 4, 1925 in Crane, Mo. to the late Dr. JCR and Ethel Doggett.   Growing up in Crane, Betty was the proud captain of the women's high school basketball team. She met and married Hardy Baker while attending Southwest Missouri State College in 1947.  They were married for 62 years. Her interest in basketball continued throughout her life, and she loved to cheer on the Lady Bears.   Betty had many talents and interests, and enjoyed attending classes to nurture her talents in china painting, stained glass art, quilting, knitting, and finding bargains at flea markets. "Russ" Baker II and his wife, Anne, of Willow Springs, Mo., Nancy Lou Sappington,  Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Baker, Janet Marie Frana and her husband, Virgil, all of Springfield, Mo., and Richard Baker and his wife, Mary of Lenexa, Kansas.; nine grandchildren, Jacob Sappington and his wife Davina, Shane Baker and his wife Abby, Matthew Baker and his wife Julie, Jessica Sappington McBride, Joseph Frana and his wife Anne, Sarah Gatewood and her husband Eric, Laura Phillips and her husband Jordan, Kathryn Stewart and her husband Adam, Rebekah Tillman and her husband Phillip; and 18 great-grandchildren, Jamar Sappington, D'Adrion McBride, D'Aaizyah McBride, D'Aazlynn McBride, Kingston McBride, Sawyer Sappington, Lenora Sappington, Olivia Baker, Avery Baker, Hank Baker, Hardy Baker, Barrie Baker, Banks Baker, Ella Phillips, Emerie Phillips, Camden Gatewood, Eden Frana, and Eli Frana.   Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Joe Doggett, and her sister "Sis" Keet.   Visitation will be Thursday, December 17, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Ellen Brantley officiating. Burial will be with her late husband in the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery at 1 p.m. following the celebration of life service.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardy and Betty Baker Scholarship, Missouri State University, or the charity of your choice.
