Bettie Lou Phillips, 81, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 2:15 p.m., in Christian HealthCare East. She was born June 23, 1928, in Warrensburg, Missouri to the late Pat and Elizabeth Young. She retired from Great Southern Bank. Throughout her life, Bettie enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, reading and singing and being active in her children's activities. Most important to Bettie was being a mother. Most of all her laughter and sense of humor will be missed by her family and friends. Bettie is survived by her children, two sons, Leland Phillips, Jr. and wife, Dale of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeff Phillips of Springfield; four daughters, Marty Fredrick and husband, Virgle of Dallas, Texas, Susan Gilbert of Wynne, Ark., Becky Ethridge and husband, Bob of Atlanta, Ga., and Mindy Phillips of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Nell Evans of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in-law and his wife, Don and Ruth Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; three great-children and the father of her children, Leland Phillips, Sr., of Springfield. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1500 S.
