Bessie Meier 91, of Springfield Missouri passed away on April 14, 2023 at Springfield Villa Nursing Home.

Bessie was born on November 28, 1931 to Lena Park Gonce and Leonard Loren Gonce at "Tory" Missouri near Highlandville.

Bessie graduated from Spokane High School in 1950.

On February 26, 1950 Bessie was married to Carl Henry Meier of Chestnutridge, Missouri. Bessie and Carl lived at Chestnutridge for several years moving to Springfield in the mid fifties. They were married for 72 years plus.

Bessie was saved at a young age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Highlandville. Carl and Bessie attended Chestnutridge, Macedonia and Golden Harvest Baptist churches in their lifetime.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Carl in July 2022. She was also preceded in death by her parents Lena and Leonard Gonce, her two sisters Marie Magers and Virginia Woods and her brother Doris Gonce.

Bessie is survived by her son Glen Ray Meier of Springfield who was so very precious to her. She is also survived by a sister Sheryl Foster and her husband Bob of Nixa, Missouri, her sister-in-law, Esther Maples of Ozark, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home will be at Schupbach Cemetery at Chestnutridge on Tuesday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Allen Maples officiating.
