Bertram Francis "Bert" Adams, 85 of Springfield, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 4, 2016, in perfect peace.

Bert was born the seventh sibling of nine children to the union of LeRoy and Martha Adams, in Springfield, Missouri. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Reedy Chapel A. M.E. Church. Bert graduated from Lincoln High School; he was united in marriage to Georgia L. (Thompson) Adams in 1950, and to this union four sons were born.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal and Bronze Star. He worked at City Hall, Sears, SMS, and Colonial Bakery. He loved his family, always willing to help others, and enjoyed cooking especially barbequing.

Preceding Bert in death were his parents, his wife Georgia, six brothers, Edward, Nathaniel, Kenneth Sr., Glen, Billy Sr., and Milton, Sr.; one sister LeaEtta McAdams; and a granddaughter Marquisha Adams. To forever cherish his love and memory are his sons Charles, Jeff, Glenn (Sherie), and Stephen; one sister, Betty Ransom, all of Springfield, MO; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and a very special lady Ora Logan of St. Louis, MO.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Pastor Lamarr Jamerson officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Springfield National Cemetery.
