Berthalene Wood left this life at the age of 91 on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019. Bert was a Missouri farm girl of German descent. Born in 1927, she was raised during the Great Depression in the Roaring River area of Southern Missouri. She married Donald Jack Wood, a WWII Navy veteran, and they made their home in California for several years. After moving back home to Missouri, Bert worked for Lily-Tulip in Springfield for over 30 years. Bert is remembered fondly for her gardening, her crafts and the handmade Barbie clothes she made for many happy young girls. With her passing she leaves behind five children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest with her husband Jack at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 10:00 am, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
